Stanley Gronley, 84, joined our heavenly father Tuesday morning, August 7, 2018 after a long, and courageous battle with cancer, and Lewy Body Dementia. Stan was born on a farm in Fairdale, North Dakota to Marie and Hans Gronley. He was the 8th born of 10 children. The Gronley family moved to Kalispell in the fall of 1942.
After graduating from Flathead High School in 1952, and attending some college in Bozeman, MT, Stan met and married Barbara Kinshella, where they would be blessed with two daughters and one son. The family moved to Seattle, Washington, where Stan worked at Boeing as an Aviation quality control inspector for 11 years. In 1967 the family moved back to the Kalispell area where Stan enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and going to the family cabin on Ashley Lake.
Stan and Barbara later divorced, and Stan would go on to marry Garnet Basye. Garnet and Stan shared 40 years together. They enjoyed the love of golf, their faith, wintering in Arizona, and spending summers in Montana. Stan was a skilled woodworker, making many cherished treasures for family members throughout the years.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Sidney and Leroy, sisters Darlene, Gwendolyn, and Bev.
Stan is survived by his wife Garnet, daughters Jodi Mott (Lisa), Kristi Carroll (Brian), and son, Mark Gronley (Ronette), and Garnets daughter’s Kathy Crone (Mike), Karen Tuohy (Rob), and Garnets son, John Basye, 13 grandchildren, Craig, Cara, Kyle, Alex, Angela, David, Jenny, Jacqueline, Jacob, Tracy, Jason, Jesse, Sean, and spouses, as well as 18 great grandchildren; brothers Gerald, Winford, and sisters, Frances, and Gloria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Glacier Memorial Gardens, 2659 Hwy 93 North, at 11:30am, Monday, August 13, with a celebration of life following at Village Greens Clubhouse.
