Marceline Baringer Yates


Marcy was born on June 17, 1927 in Pamona, California to John F Baringer and Angeline M Farrell Baringer. She passed away on September 6, 2018 in Kalispell, Montana.

Shortly after her birth, she came to Montana when her parents returned to the family farm and ranch in the Hathaway Valley on the Yellowstone River. Marcy was the oldest of three siblings. She was raised on the farm and ranch and attended grade school in Hathaway. She graduated from Rosebud High School at the age of 16.

In the fall of 1944, she entered Montana State College (MSU). In 1945 she met her life partner, John (Jack) William Yates, when he returned from Wold War II. Marcy and Jack were married in 1946. They moved to Havre, Montana and made their family home in Havre where they raised their family. In the early 1960s, Marcy returned to school and earned her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Montana College (MSUN). She worked for the Havre Public Schools as a second and third grade teacher. Marcy received her Master's of Education in 1974. She retired from teaching after serving the Havre schools for 29 years. Marcy and Jack were able to travel during their retirement visiting: England, Scotland, Wales, Australia, Italy (50th anniversary of Allied invasion)
and cruises of the West Indies, Caribbean, Panama Canal and Pacific. Her husband, Jack, passed away in 2004 shortly before their 58th wedding anniversary. She moved to Kalispell, Montana in 2007 to be close to her children and their families.

Marcy is survived by her son, Spencer (Zonia) Yates, her daughter, Loree Martin, grandsons: Jose (Shawna) Yates & Luke Martin, granddaughters: Anne Martin Gibling and Maria (Justin)Yates. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, her brother Jack (Jean) Baringer and her sister Beverly Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, her son in law Tony Martin and one grandson Jacob Martin.

Grave side services will be in Havre at the Highland Cemetery at 11 AM on Wednesday, Sepetmber 12, 2018.
