Tribute

Charles Henley Phillips passed away November 22nd, at home in Kalispell, surrounded by family and angels.
He was our beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was born on March 14, 1930 to Henley S. Phillips and Lena J. Nordtome in Kalispell. They called him Sonny and he joined his sister, Bunnie.
He graduated from Flathead High School where he was a star basketball and football star. He remained active until recent years, water skiing (with cigar in mouth, hat on head and sunglasses in his younger days); racquetball, volleyball, bowling, golf and ‘horsin’ when he got older. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks; the United Methodist Church; the Sons of Norway and a variety of breakfast clubs, most of which he helped start.
In his Life, he worked for local dairies; Consolidated Freightways and started working for Flathead County Road Department after the flood of 1964 and worked his way up to Superintendent until his retirement in 1992.
He married his High School sweetheart, Patricia Maye Morton on September 23, 1950 and they had 5 children.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father and sister, Bunnie (Ailene) Watters of Libby.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia and children: Gigi Meyer and husband Brian of Columbia Falls; Mark Phillips and his wife Mishelle and son’s Aidan & Ari of Kalispell; Cindy Ingram and her husband Kevin of Ogden Utah and her children James Ingram, Stephanie Ambrose and Kellie Duffing; Diane Clark of MIssoula and her children Patrick and Ben Clark and Mattie-Le Booth and James Lovell of Honolulu Hawaii; Michael Phillips and his wife Janelle of Fort Benton and his children Charlie, Tim and JoAnn Lee. He also had 10 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration Service is planned for December 8, 2018 at the Epworth Methodist Church in Kalispell at 1:00 p.m.
