December 5, 1941 ~ July 1, 2019 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Tribute

Carol Hanson was surrounded by family when she passed quietly into heaven Monday July 1, 2019 after a prolonged battle with Dementia. She was a loving and loved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Sunday school teacher.
Carol was born December 5, 1941 in Townsend Montana, the fourth child and only daughter of Hugh and Verna Whitehead. She grew up on a dairy farm near Winston MT and graduated from Townsend High School.
On June 4, 1960, Carol married Stanley (Stan) Arthur Hanson in Helena Montana. The couple were married more than 49 years until Stan’s death in 2009. After spending several years in Helena where their four children were born, they lived in Columbia Falls followed by Forsyth Montana. In 1981 she and Stan moved back to the Flathead Valley where Stan had grown up.
Carol was a member of Eastern Star, an adult leader in Rainbow and Jobs Daughters and sang in the choir at her church. A lifelong Baptist, she was active in the church wherever she lived and was a beloved member of the Easthaven Baptist Church in Kalispell for more than 30 years.
Children held a special place in Carols heart. She relished her work in the daycare field and took an active role in raising several of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. For more than 20 years she taught Sunday school to kindergarten age kids at her Church. She also worked cleaning houses and in food service.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, reading, bible study, walking and singing. Even as her disease progressed, she enjoyed singing and listening to music especially Sunday school songs and gospel music. Over the years she amassed quite a collection of Angel figurines as well as numerous coffee mugs from the places she traveled to.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband Stan, her parents Hugh and Verna Whitehead, and two brothers, Glen and Deane Whitehead. She is survived by her four children, Stanley Arthur Hanson Jr. and his wife Vickie of Kalispell, Shannon Doyle Hanson and his wife Shelly of Whitefish, Delwyn Lane (Del) Hanson of Kalispell and his girlfriend Tess, and Wynette Alaire Hanson Fauth and her Husband Ray of Whitefish. 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a brother, Wayne Whitehead of Townsend.
The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Hidden Meadow Memory Care, who have cared for Mom for the past several years.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, Carol’s children ask that you donate towards dementia research in hopes that other families may not lose a loved one to the darkness so early in life.
